29 Weeks Baby #2

How Far Along? 29 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: 15 pounds (127)

Symptoms: I’ve had lots of Braxton Hicks tightening this week and some pretty intense heartburn

Movement? Cruz is super active. Cash loves to feel Cruz kicking him while he’s nursing. He just giggles and giggles!

Sleep? I’ve had the cough that won’t quit for several weeks and it keeps me up a good portion of the night so sleep has not been great.

Exercise? We went on a couple walk this week since we had some beautiful sunshine. It’s still cold and windy but it feels so good to get out and walk again! Cash likes to walk Addy or ride his balance bike. I cannot wait for warmer weather to be here!

Food Cravings: I’ve been craving avocados with tomatoes and sauerkraut. If I have some bacon I throw that in the mix too. I did indulge in some ice cream a couple times this week. I haven’t had sugar in so long! I felt a little guilty but it was so good!

Food Aversions: None.

Happy or Moody? I’ve had a pretty good week besides feeling exhausted from all my nighttime coughing. I’ve been in full nesting mode again this week. I have almost everything together for my birth kit and my postpartum kit. It feels so good to get prepared early.

Miss Anything? SLEEP!

Best Moment This Week: Putting together my birth kit and explaining to Cash what everything will be used for. He likes to wear the wooden bowl that will hold the placenta as a hat.

Looking Forward to: Meeting our little Cruz. I can’t believe that he will be here is 9-13 weeks!

Cash’s Contemplations: We have been talking about the birth this week since I’ve been putting my birth kit together. Whenever we pass by the birth kit he tells us that it’s “for the birth”. He also tells people that baby Cruz “will come out in May or June” and that “the midwife will come”. He also loves to watch the heartbeat that we record from our appointments with our midwife.

How Far Along? 28 weeks

Total Weight Gain: 13 pounds (125)

Symptoms: My SI has been really sore this week. I’ve had a really persistent cough and I think I really irritated it during a coughing fit.

Movement? Cruz kicks and punches like crazy! I’m pretty sure he’s head down and can’t flip around anymore. I feel him jerk all the time too.

Sleep? For the last several nights I have woken up around 2 AM to have a coughing fit that last on and off until around 4 or 4:30 so I haven’t been sleeping too well.

Exercise? We went for a walk this week when we had a rare moment of sunshine.

Food Cravings: I ate an entire container of the Cultured Mama probiotic dip with cucumber this week. It’s so good but I know Cash and I smell like garlic for days afterwards.

Food Aversions: None. My biggest aversion is to perfume and laundry smells.

Happy or Moody? I’ve been up and down this week. I did cry in bed one night this week. All the emotions and hormones running through your body can be tough to deal with on a normal day but when you don’t feel good it’s WAY harder. I had really painful stomach cramps and aches for 3-4 days and this cough to top it off so I was really just a ticking time bomb waiting to go off.

Miss Anything? Bulletproof coffee and sushi!

Best Moment This Week: Since I’ve been sick I used my couch time to shop on Amazon. I now have everything I need for my home birth kit plus a few extra things. I ordered some new nursing pajama/lounge clothes, a bamboo robe, Kanga Care baby wearingskin to skin shirts for both Nick and me, some postpartum healing herbs for the bath, some Earth Mama Angle Baby Mama bottom spray and Mama bottom balm and some organic cotton and bamboo cloth pads for postpartum. My mom helped me wash baby clothes and organize the boy’s room this week as well. Overall the nesting was the highlight of the week!

Looking Forward to: Getting all of my goodies in the mail

Cash’s Contemplations: Cash loves to rub my belly while he nurses. He tells us that he “will see baby Cruz soon” and that “baby Cruz will come out”. We have been looking through birth photo galleries while we deicide on a birth photographer and Cash loves to see all the brand new babies. His favorite photos are the new babies “having milk”. I ask him if he is going to share his milk with baby Cruz and he always smiles and says “yep!” I know that Cash is going to be the sweetest big brother!

27 Weeks Baby #2

How Far Along? 27 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: I was 124 at 26 weeks but this week I weighed in at 122 so 12 pounds gained.

Symptoms: Over the past two weeks I’ve had some nausea and haven’t felt wonderful. I’ve also felt some Braxton Hicks tightening in the evening.

Movement? Our little Cruz is super active just like his big brother. He kicks and punches like crazy. His little foot likes to wedge itself into the lower right rib JUST LIKE CASH! It brings back all the memories of my pregnancy with Cash. I also feel him twitch all the time like something has startled him.

Sleep? Some nights I sleep great and others I’m awake from around 3 AM until 5 AM. Cruz is super active at night so that may be part of  my sleeplessness.

Exercise? Cash and I went to a play date at the Kroc Center a week ago last Tuesday with some local mamas so I got plenty of exercise chasing him around and climbing the play structures. Unfortunately, 5 of the kids started throwing up and having diarrhea all within hours of one another the following Friday so Nick and I had a very sick little boy on our hands (hence the reason for missing the 26 week bump picture and post).

Food Cravings: Avocados, bacon and tomatoes on paleo bread and Culture Mama Probiotic Dip (soaked cashews, fermented garlic, sauerkraut, kalamata olives) – it’s like humus without the beans and it’s delicious with cucumber slices.

Food Aversions: It’s not food but I CANNOT STAND the smell of people’s fabric softener, perfumes/colognes or anything like that.

Happy or Moody? Up and down this week. It was so sad to see Cash sick and hear him cry so much. As a mama you just want to take away your babes pain, but that’s not always possible. Nick and I did get almost 24/7 cuddle bug time for almost a week straight so that has been nice. I have also been in full nesting mode so those are some super happy moments. I keep thinking about Cruz and wonder what he will look like and what type of personality he will have. I’m actually getting really excited for him to be here. I can’t believe that I’m already in my 3rd trimester! This pregnancy has FLOWN by!

Miss Anything? My sweet CashMan being healthy.

Best Moment This Week: Putting up the new letters in the boy’s room, unpacking all the tiny clothes and putting away all the prepped and ready XS OBF diapers!

Looking Forward to: Getting everything ready for Cruz’s arrival. We have pretty much everything we need so I’m focusing on organizing the boy’s room, unpacking and washing everything and getting my home birth kit ready. I will be prepared this time!
