Spokane County Fair 2015

We took Cash to his very first fair this week and needless to say it was a total hit! We took Cash to see the animals first. He got to see a crocodile, baby zebra, emus, camels, sheep, bunnies, cows, pigs, longhorns and so much more!

The pigs and bunnies were Cash’s favorite! There was one naughty piggy squealing really loud because he didn’t want to be corralled into a smaller pen. I was worried it would make Cash cry, but it didn’t even phase him!

We walked around the whole fair and Cash took everything in! He really liked the machine that blows around the dollar bills – so appropriate since his name is Cash!

I’m already looking forward to taking Cash to the fair next year too! Hopefully he will be big enough to ride the camels!!

9 Months Old

Nursing: Cash is still exclusively breastfed. I haven’t been able to but the bullet and start solids. We talked about it with Dr. Morical and she said that it’s perfectly fine, but when he has two teeth we should give him some solids. I think this is a great plan. Hopefully I’ll be ready by then.

He still prefers to stand up while nursing. Even when I'm laying down he does a downward dog while nursing. It's quite hilarious; my friend, Lisa, calls it "nursetastics".

Cloth Diapering: We ordered 8 more medium OBF diapers. Since Cash is a heavy wetter we prefer the OBFs to the HLCs right now.

Sleep: Cash cut his firth tooth this last month so sleep was not so great. Cash still likes to go to bed between 8PM and 9PM and he sleeps until 7AM most mornings. He still wakes several times a night but goes right back to sleep with a little of mama’s milk.

Likes/Dislikes: Cash is such a happy boy and he likes so many things. He loves dance parties, reading books, crawling around outside in the grass and climbing anything and everything! One thing Cash really likes is riding in his little wooden cart. The cart was actually mine when I was his age so it’s really fun to see him enjoy it too! It started when Nick’s mom put him in it and pushed him around; he of course wanted to stand in the cart while she pushed him. Since then Nick and my mom have both pushed him around the house in the cart and he absolutely loves it! He also love to stand and pulls himself up to stand on anything he can get his hands on!

Cash does not like diaper changes at all! He cries, flips, fights us and tries to crawl away every chance he gets! It usually takes both Nick and I to change a diaper. Solo diaper changes are very tough!

Activities: My uncle Tim, aunt Peggy and cousin Jared came to town from Oklahoma and got to meet Cash for the first time. Cash also go to meet his great grandma Morelli! He does really well meeting new people and loves to go new places.

Health: Cash had a great 9-month check up! He weighed 16 pounds 5 ounces and measured 28 ½ inches long. He is in the 5th percentile for weigh but is in the 50th percentile for height. We went over her checklist of skills that 9-12 month old babies should do and Cash is ahead of the game on almost everything! The only things he hasn’t mastered are standing on his own unsupported, walking, pointing out animals/objects when we say “where’s the _____”, and saying dada, nana, etc. for other people. So far he just says “mamamama” so I don’t think it exactly counts as his first word. Cash hasn’t been sick yet but she said not to be too concerned if he gets his first cold this winter.

Best Moment: Cash is really bonding with Nick. Just in the last couple weeks he has been reaching for Nick more and crawling over to his daddy and pulling himself up on his leg. Cash also loves it when Nick comes into the bedroom when he wakes up! I tell him that daddy is coming and he squeals with excitement! It is the best thing to witness Cash’s excitement about his daddy.

We Say Goodbye to the Toothless Grin

posted on Saturday, September 5, 2015 by Kyra

My sweet baby’s boy is getting his very first tooth! Two weeks ago Cash started fussing randomly, tugging on his ear and rubbing his jaw. Nick and I had a feeling that Cash was getting close to cutting a tooth because our sweet natured baby was suddenly extra fussy.

I feel like we are approaching the end of an era. My little Cash man will no longer have the adorable toothless grin that I am so in love with.

After three nights of Cash waking up crying every 30-40 minutes his very first tooth has made its appearance. His bottom right middle tooth is just viable above the skin. It also looks like his bottom middle left tooth is not too far behind.

Now we just have to wait for it to come out all the way. This teething business is not fun. I wish I could just take the pain away but alas, I can’t. We will just continue to do everything we can to comfort our sweet baby boy as he embarks on this next phase.
