I Would Walk 500 Miles

We need to play the Proclaimer’s song on repeat! Cash has really found his stride since he started walking and now he wants to walk everywhere!

He has surprisingly good balance for a brand new walker. He prefers to hold onto his mama or daddy’s finger while he walks but he doesn’t need it. He can walk from his bedroom clear into the kitchen all by himself! I’ve lost count at how many steps that is, but it’s a bunch!

He walks all around the house and has even started to “run” a little when he’s trying to catch Addy. He makes us dizzy walking in circles chasing the dogs!

We went to Lowe’s this week to buy some new indoor plants for our house and we found a perfect Cash Man basket in the garden department. It had a lower basket that made a perfect handle for Cash to push. He ended up pushing the basket from the garden center all the way to the checkout stand.  Several Lowe’s employees were laughing and commenting on what a good helper he was and how cute he was pushing his cart. He was quite upset when we had to leave because he realized that the basket had to stay!

Now whenever we’re out running errands he likes to push the carts and walk through the stores holding our hands. It makes shopping ten thousand times better!!

12 Step Program

posted on Monday, January 25, 2016 by Kyra

Cash took his first independent, unassisted steps on January 11 at 7:35 PM! He was playing with his favorite Grimm’s Toys Push car on the leather chair in the living room when he looked at the other chair and decided that he wanted to drive his car on that one instead! He looked over at us almost as if he was saying “watch me, I’m about to amaze you!” and simply took three steps, car in hand, and proceeded to play on the other chair.

Since those first few steps he has been walking along the wall, chairs and windows sills. The past two days this progressed to taking one or two steps more independently. He was working up to what I have christened his “12 Step Program”. He took 12 steps from the chairs to the center of the room as I held the vacuum brush head attachment out for his prize! So January 24th, 2016 was Cash’s official entrance into the world of walking!

Now Nick and I have to “get our running shoes on” as grandma Weasie likes to say!

13 Months Old

Nursing/Eating: Cash still nurses like a champ but he also loves to eat! This month we added prime rib (on Christmas) and some ground bison and bison steaks from a buffalo my dad shot in North Dakota. Cash has a love affair going on with meat – which is a good thing since we eat lots of meat! He also just loves his veggies, beets, avocado and sweet potatoes top the favorites list!

Sleep: Cash still isn’t the best sleeper but we’re hoping that 2016 will be the year that he starts sleeping better!

Likes/Dislikes: The Green Toys tractor is definitely one of Cash’s favorite toys. We take the tractor everywhere with us. When we’re home he always reached for either his tractor or his Grimm’s push car. Cash also loves to read books! We read 10-15 book everyday. He has his favorite few that we read over and over again. His favorite lineup includes Ralph, Mice, Peek A Who, Little Blue Truck and the Llama books.

Health: Well, Cash had his very first cold this month! We knew it would happen sooner or later but it was tough. He woke up congested one morning and had a super tough day that led into a sleepless night. Cash woke up every 20-30 minutes all night long so Nick and I were zombies the next day! We took Cash to the chiropractor and his adjustment helped so much! We also gave him some infant probiotic and vitamin D. His cold hung on for over a week but he slept better than he did that first night.

Cash is very talkative, he is constantly babbling away! He says “mama”, “dada”, “nana”, “doggie” which soungs like “dg dg” and his version of “hot” which sounds like “ht”. My mom taught him “hot” recently because her fireplace is at ground level and now he thinks that everything is hot! He also still loves to make his truck/car/tractor “brrrrrmmmm” noises!

Morelli Christmas Season 2015

posted on Friday, January 15, 2016 by Kyra

Christmastime is my favorite time of the year! I love love love Christmas! This Christmas season was packed full of so many fun events that it just flew by!

We kicked off the Christmas season by putting up our tree two days after Thanksgiving. Cash was absolutely memorized by the Christmas tree! He kept pointing at it saying "ooooh ooooh"! We ended up buying all new shatterproof ornaments to use instead of our glass ornaments since we have hardwoods and were concerned about them breaking. This ended up being a very wise decision!

It was so fun decorating the tree and listening to Christmas music as a family of three this year!

Cash "helped" us decorate and decided that he needed to taste every ornament that he could get his hands on!

We have decided to focus and celebrate Jesus' birth for Christmas with Cash so we didn't take him to see Santa. We did make a little trip up to Greenbluff with my mom, where we considered showing him a santa to gauge his reaction, but the santa was less than impressive and was set up outside where it was FREEZING! He did enjoy looking at all of the Christmas decorations though!

As we were leaving we ran across the owners adorable Saint Bernard! Cash absolutely LOVES dogs so I think that was the highlight of the trip!

This has been the year for snow thankfully! The past two summers have been extremely dry so it has been so refreshing to see our winter wonderland! Whenever Nick is plowing the snow Cash watches him from out front windows. He pounds on the glass and says "da da" while he watches, it's so adorable!

Cash got to hold his first snowball and he thought it was something really special!

Until he bit it and realized how cold it was!

Luckily, he soon got over the cold and I couldn't get the snowball away from him!

Last year Cash was only 3 days old when we had our Live Real Estate Christmas party so it was awesome to be able to go this year. We rented out the Cork House restaurant and had a delicious sit down dinner for all of our agents. Cash was the only baby there but he was so good! Everyone loved seeing him and commented on his good behavior. I think the fact that we take Cash everywhere with us helps.

Christmas Eve day we relaxed around the house and cooked a huge pot of spaghetti sauce for dinner. Cash took a super long nap on daddy while my mom and I cooked and woke up just in time to help with the dished! My mom always shows Cash what she's doing and lets him help. I know she can't wait to bake with him when he is a little older.

Our good friends Katee and Alejandro were without power so they stayed with us. We let Cash and Davey open one present each and then they had a blast playing with toys until bedtime. Cash opened his Grimm's Toys red wooden truck. I actually won it on Instagram during Grimm's Toy's Christmas Wish giveaway!

On Christmas morning Cash got to open his stocking, but it took him a while because he was so excited to finally get his hands on his stocking and play with all the sequins on it!

My dad bought Cash some Grimm's Toys wooden "marbles" (they are small wooden balls so I'm not sure why they call them marbles) and Nick and I bought him his very own electric toothbrush since he loves to play with our sonicare toothbrushes.

We had both of our families over for prime rib dinner and opened presents that evening. It took a while for Cash to get into opening his presents since we spent that last few weeks teaching him not to touch them! He got some great new toys, clothes and lots of new books! Cash loves to read so new books are always greatly appreciated! Nick and I read the same books over and over again everyday - we have most of the memorized!

When we finished opening presents Cash played with all of his new loot and we took some fun family photos. Cash is such a happy, silly baby but it is so hard to get him to smile for family pictures!

This was the best Christmas ever and I already can't wait for next year!
