How Far Along? 13 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: I lost about 4 pounds in my first trimester, but my appetite is back! I currently weigh 113 so I’m just one pound shy of my pre-pregnancy weight.

Have You Started to Show? Yes!! I love my little bump! I think most people would just think that I really enjoy my bagels (ironic since I’m gluten free and don’t eat bagels), but those who know me have noticed my baby bump.

Stretch Marks? No, thank goodness! I apply Belli Elasticity Oil in the morning and Mother’s Special Blend Oil at night. Hopefully that helps!

Belly Button? In, but I think my belly button is a bit shallow so I have a feeling that will change.

Maternity Clothes? I don’t have a problem with my tops, but pants are a different story! I am currently using the hair tie trick when I wear my capris, but I don’t really like it. I bought my first pair of maternity leggings that I thought I would be able to use for both yoga and out and about…WRONG! I was so excited about my new pants that I put them on as soon as I got home and wore them for the rest of the day while I was running errands. Later that evening I bent over in my bedroom and Nick informed me that he knew I was wearing a pink and black striped thong! I had no idea that they were practically see through in the rump! I guess those pants will be “at home” pants only. I’m sure I gave the people of Coeur d’Alene quite a show!

Symptoms: I’ve been feeling great for the most part, just a little tired. I did have some discomfort on the right side of my tailbone, but my prenatal yoga instructor walked me through some stretches that really helped!

Movement? Not yet, but I can’t wait to feel our little baby for the first time!

Sleep? Not that great this week. We are currently installing some beautiful Acacia hardwood floors so our house is a little unorganized. I can’t stand a messy house so I think that is contributing to my restless sleep. I always get up between 2 AM and 3 AM to pee so that doesn’t help either.

Exercise? I have my 90-minute prenatal yoga class every Monday night. Since I started the prenatal classes at week 5 I have only missed two, due to the all day and night sickness early on. I also still attend my regular 90-minute yoga classes throughout the week-usually 2-3 times. Nick and I also like to walk the dogs through our neighborhood. We haven’t been as good about that this last week, but with the return of some nice weather I know that will change.

Food Cravings: Eggs, beef and dill pickles! I cannot seem to get enough eggs! I buy eggs from a local farm by my house and hard-boil a half a dozen every other day. Then I cut them up and add several dill pickles, fresh cracked pepper and a small amount of mustard and mayo. Voila! My go to snack of choice! I usually eat my egg salad with some rice crackers. My other major craving is a juicy cheeseburger (no bun) made from our organic beef we buy from the Selkirk Ranch. Nick barbecues the burgers, adds the cheese toward the end and serves them up! I eat mine with several dill pickles on top. Dill pickles are obviously incorporated into my favorite foods right now, but I also enjoy sneaking a few from the jar everyday too!

Food Aversions: Chicken. I have a serious aversion to any kind of chicken right now. This has been going on for several weeks. I don’t think I’ve had chicken for 6 weeks.

Happy or Moody? HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY! Loving being pregnant!

Miss Anything? Coffee and red wine

Nursery Progress: The nursery is still currently the upstairs guest room but that will be changing tomorrow! The room will be emptied out and Sam, our wonderful contractor, will be starting on the hardwood floors! I can’t wait to have the floors installed and have our nursery room empty and ready to decorate and fill!

Best Moment This Week: Besides the week that I found out I was pregnant this week was by far the most amazing week of my pregnancy. We had our 13-week appointment and we were able to hear the heart beat for the first time! Our midwife said the heartbeat sounded really good and strong, 160 beats per minute. It is just so incredible to hear the heartbeat of our baby beating strongly inside me. I think it made the pregnancy more real for Nick too. He has been touching my little bump more often and smiling. Nick recorded the heartbeat on his cell phone so we can listen to it anytime we want. I listen to it several times a day and it brings tears to my eyes every time!

Looking Forward to: Feeling the baby move for the first time. I know it’s still early, but I still cannot wait!
