Nursing/Eating: After
15 months we added fruit into Cash’s diet. I thought he would go
crazy over the fruit, but he was pretty unimpressed by it. We started by giving
him some banana to try; he took a bite and spit it right out, then tried again
and decided it was ok. After a few days of trying he actually likes bananas and
can eat an entire banana in one sitting! We also gave him fresh blueberries and
pear this month. He likes pears best when his nana gives them to him – they
just taste better from nana for some reason! Cash will put the blueberries in
his mouth and chew them a couple times but he’s not too crazy about them yet.
He mostly prefers to chew them and try to put them in my mouth – it’s a good
thing I LOVE blueberries!
Cash also tried my chia seed pudding (coconut milk, chia
seeds and banana blended together), celery root soup, cauliflower and asparagus.
He absolutely loves the pudding, celery root soup and asparagus but he’s still
undecided about the cauliflower.
Sleep: Cash still
doesn’t “sleep” through the night. I’ve definitely been having a tough time
with the lack of sleep lately. I don’t mind the 4-6 nightly nursing sessions
but Cash uses my nipple as a pacifier all night and it’s really hard to sleep
like that. I have been able to transfer him after he has fallen asleep a few times so that's a HUGE improvement. He only stays asleep for about an hour, but I'll take it!
I have never given Cash a pacifier but I broke down and
ordered a natural rubber pacifier, made it Italy, to try at night to see if it
will help. I’ll have an update next month. Fingers crossed that it helps!
Likes/Dislikes: Cash
loves bath time! I slip away to take a bath and before the tub is full Cash is
standing next to the tub pointing, squawking and trying to climb in! He just
loves to sit in the tub with me and play with his plastic measuring cups,
natural sea sponge, my clarisonic and his nasal aspirator (at least it was good
for something).
Books are still a big hit with Cash. He especially loves to
read with his nana. My mom is so animated and usually makes up her own story,
Cash just eats up every word! A recent hit is The Napping House. There is a
part where the mouse jumps up and then everyone else jumps and without knowing
my mom was throwing her hands up in the yelling “Ah! The mouse!” When they were
reading the book at her house Cash threw his hands up in the air and screamed
“Ah!” It was the cutest thing ever! Now he throws his hands up and screams for
every page of that book!
We’ve had some awesome weather lately so Cash has been able
to enjoy the local parks, long walks in the carrier on my back and nana’s
backyard! He loves to go down the slides and eat the wood chips and the park.
At nana’s he digs in the compost, rolls around in a hole from a tree we took
out, eats dirt and runs around. The other night she gave him his shovel in the
house and he immediately wanted to go outside and dig. Unfortunately, it was
dark, cold and rainy so he couldn’t go out; he was so unhappy that he couldn’t
go outside and play and just stood at the slider door and stared at the
backyard. Poor guy.
Cash also loves to stack things now. He always stacks the
dog’s bowls after they finish eating and takes them to Nick. He also likes to
stack his Plan Toys ring stacker now! He always stacks the rings face down for
some reason. It’s so fun to watch his mind at work!
We think Cash is finally getting a little better in the car
seat. While he still doesn’t like it, he seems to be tolerating it more often than
not. We still have some pretty awful drives where he screams and cries the
whole time, but for the most part he is pretty content with his books and
looking out the window.
Health: Cash has
been healthy and happy this month! No sickness to report, thank goodness! He is
growing like a weed though! All he want to do is eat eat eat! It’s like a full
time job keeping him fed!
Cash is learning and absorbing everything around him. Nick and I feel so blessed to be able to spend so much time with him. These truly are the most precious times!
