Nursing/Eating: Cash
is still nursing like a champ and is enjoying so many foods now. So far he has
tried avocado, carrots, beets, green beans, broccoli basil and sweet potato. He
loves the avocado, beets, broccoli, basil and sweet potato. He doesn’t dislike
the carrots, but he just reaches for the other foods first. We have only given
him green beans once and he ate one right away and liked it but then played
with the rest.
Cloth Diapering: Since
it is getting cooler at night Cash is going to start wearing longies to bed at
night. We just LOVE cloth diapering with wool! It’s so fun and all of the
basewoolies and longies are just too cute!
Sleep: I have
been struggling with Cash not sleeping well; this last week I decided that I
just needed to accept the fact that I don’t have a baby who is a great sleeper
and I need to be happy that he is healthy and happy. Now that I have accepted
this I feel so much better about everything. The important thing is that Cash’s
needs are being met! The last few nights I think Cash has slept for one 2-hour
stretch – a vast improvement from hourly. He still nurses throughout the night
but I have a much better attitude about it. Cash still only take naps on us, the grandparents or in the backpack, but I'm OK with that as well!
Likes/Dislikes: Cash
loves his wooden cars! His Grimm’s Toys push car is his favorite, but Papa
bought him two new wooden cars from Bannor Toys. One is a truck and the other
is a hot rod. He absolutely loves them! He plays with his cars for 45 minutes
to an hour at a time! Cash also loves books. His two favorite books are The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear
and Little Blue Truck. He loves to point at the pages and turn them
when he is done looking at them. I am so happy that Cash loves to read! My
fondest childhood memories are of my mom reading to me! I loved all the classic
books she read to me when I was a bit older – Kidnapped, Tom Sawyer,
Huckleberry Finn, Treasure Island and the OZ books were some of my favorites!
Cash does not like diaper changes. He throws a huge fit for
pretty much every one. He also doesn’t like it when we take something away from
him that he should have. This also results in a total tantrum. We’re talking
throwing his head back, screaming, crying, kicking feet and air punching
tantrums. Not fun. Nick and I are looking for some parenting books to read
because we are at a little bit of a loss as to how to deal with these tantrums.
Activities: We
have been going to play dates with the local “woolie mamas” and their babes.
Cash loves other babies! It’s so cute to see hi interact and play.
We also took Cash’s 1-year photos! A month early, but we
wanted to take the pictures at Manito Park with all of the beautiful leaves! I
will post a couple pics here but I will do a separate post with all of my
favorites!
Health: Cash is
super healthy and happy (minus the tantrums). We have been around several runny
noses but haven’t caught a cold yet. He has 5 teeth, but I think he is working
on his 6th. I’m not sure how much he weighs but I think it has to be
close to 18 pounds.
Best Moment: We celebrated
my 30th birthday this weekend! I had the best birthday! Nick bought
me two dozen roses and two Lisa Leonard rings, engraved with his name and Cash’s
name. I spent the day with my Cash Man and then both our families came over for
dinner. My mom got me a gift certificate to this darling little boutique store,
Bohme, and knit me an adorable wool cowl! Nick and his parents bought me a new North Face transit jacket. I felt so
loved and spoiled. I think this birthday was the best because it was my first
birthday as a mama. Everything is so much better as a mama!
